Winslow 10K - 22.02.15

I entered the Winslow 10k on Sunday mainly because we have friends who live only 100m from the start/finish and it was a good opportunity to catch up with them (plus a handy parking spot).

The event was organised by the local Lions Club and was fairly low key, though it attracted almost 300 starters. It was cold but dry and thankfully, the rain and gales held off until the afternoon. The course was fairly flat apart from one uphill drag that was long but reasonably gentle.

I finished in 92nd and my time was given as 46.26 which would make it a PB, although I think the official time was a little generous. No goody bag but I added to my event T shirt collection.

Panshanger Parkrun - 21.02.15

On Saturday morning Pete Jones continued with his efforts to take part in as many Parkruns as possible and went over to Panshanger. He was our soul representative out of a field of 176 parkrunners.

Pete finished in a time of 26.55 which equated to 67th place.

Well done.

Bedford Parkrun - 21.02.15

Saturday morning in Bedford Park was a sunny one but there was a very cold and brisk wind whipping across the park. Mind you the conditions did not deter 285 hardy souls from taking part in the weekly 5K Parkrun.

Les and I were there from FlitwickTri and our results were:

Chris Wright                     24th in 21.57
Les Potts                          92nd in 25.45

Love Welwyn 10K - 15.02.15

It was a misty but still morning for the first running of the Love Welwyn 10K race. It was left to me to represent the group and having been told the route was flat and fast I set off quite quickly in search of a 10K PB.

Sadly my information was incorrect and my early pace came back to hurt me later. After the first 400 metres or so the route turned a corner and went uphill for best part of a kilometre. We then entered a 2 lap section which is best described as undulating.

At the end of the second lap it was largely downhill (from 8K to 9K - see above) and then from 9K the last kilometre was off road and round the lake at Stanborough Park to the finish.

I managed to finish in a time of 45.51 despite the hills and that was good enough for 49th place out of 321 runners.

Bedford Parkrun - 7 Feb 2015

A chilly morning greeted 238 runners to Bedford Park on Saturday for the weekly Parkrun. There was some ice about but overall conditions were less slippery than the last few weeks had been.

There were 4 of us in action at the start I agreed to pace Steve to see if he could achieve a new PB. Thankfully things went even better than planned because Steve knocked a whopping 31 seconds off his previous best time.

The times were:

Chris Wright                   31st in 22.04
Steve Clough                  32nd in 22.04
Pete Jones                     79th in 25.21
Les Potts                        80th in 25.30

South Oxhey Parkrun - 31.01.15

Pete Jones continued with his efforts to run at as many different Parkruns as possible at the end of January with a trip over to the newly created South Oxhey Parkrun. This was the first running of the race and he describes the course as being half on paths and half on grass.

Out of a field of 143 runners Pete finished in  78th place in a time of 28.32.
