Bedford Parkrun 22.02.14

First & foremost congratulations to Pete Jones who becomes the first Flitwick Tri member to achieve 100 Parkruns.  

Only 4 Flitwick Tri runners at the above event in what turned out to ideal running conditions with even a little warm sun!

Training ride - 22.02.14

This morning dawned cool but bright and Steve and I took the opportunity to try and get rid of some of the rustiness from our legs and put a few miles in on our bikes. On the way round we collected my friend Andy from Silsoe. 

The plan was to do around 30 miles but the route was changed to fit in a cake and drink stop in Langford and Steve and I ended up doing just over 40 miles instead. 

When we set out the wind was quite light but by the time we were making our way back from Old Warden the wind seemed to have freshened and that, combined with tiring legs, made for a tough last 10 miles (for me at least). The bit through Water End seemingly into the wind the whole way.

It was however good to be out and I am sure we'll be fine, as long as there aren't too many stairs to climb today. I'm not sure however how my 7.5 mile training run tomorrow will go.

Bedford Parkrun - 15.02.14

An unusually low attendance of 126 runners for this week’s Parkrun included 3 Flitwick Tri runners.

Conditions were better than expected given the recent high winds with a cold breeze being the only problem.

Bedford Parkrun - 08.02.14

There was a good turnout of Flitwick Tri runners at Bedford Parkrun today with six runners taking part in the event. Conditions were good with sunshine and about 8 degrees and only a slight breeze.

We achieved 3 finishers in the top 50 and two PB’s as follows:

Bedford Parkrun - 01.02.14

In very chilly but bright conditions just 3 Flitwick Tri members took part in today’s Parkrun.

The park was as wet as I’ve ever seen with many significant puddles however nothing serious enough to cancel the event.

Results as follows:

Jack Wilkinson - 59^th in 23:27 - a PB by 32 seconds & hampered by painful back

Les Potts - 65^th in 23:50 - just 4 seconds off a PB, thanks Jack

Emily Potts - 212^th in 32:39 – a PB by nearly 2 minutes.

Eton Dorney Duathlon - 02.02.14

Hi Folks

Today Sian Fiona and I went over to Eton Dorney for their first duathlon of the year. I did the sprint

distance ( 5k, 20k , 5k) and the girls did the super sprint ( 2.5k, 10k, 2.5k ).

It was a lovely morning but rather cold and windy. Thankfully there was no ice or flooding though we did have to dodge the puddles. I managed to knock about 3 min off my PB there and finished in a time of 1hr 36min. The new aerobars helped a lot.

Sian and Fiona said their legs felt like blocks of concrete coming off the bike but they went on to finish in very respectable first effort times of 1hr 16m and 1hr 02min respectively.

 

Now I just have to convince them to try another!
