Bedford Parkrun - 28.12.13

On Saturday 4 of us ventured up to Bedford for the last Parkrun of 2013. The Christmas festivities seemed to have taken their toll however as there were no PBs this time.

Pirton Boxing Day Run

On Sunday morning a few of us ventured over to the Pirton Boxing Day run. This is a real family event with races for under 7's, under 13's, under 16's and adults. The morning was bright and sunny but there was a cold wind and the rain of the past few days had made it a bit soggy underfoot.

Keira Murphy took part in the under 13's 1K race which involved 2 laps round the perimeter of the sports field. She did very well finishing in a time of 6.23 and beating a number of children 2 and 3 years older in the process.

I took part in the adults race which was 3.2 miles. This involved 2 laps round the sports field and then out for a loop around muddy tracks between fields before returning to finish with a lap round the sports field. Despite the puddles and slippery conditions I managed to get to the finish in a time of 23.54 for 53rd place out of a field of 218.

Overall this was a very good event and one I aim to take part in again in future years.

MK Parkrun - Christmas Day

Hi Folks

I had a nice time running the Christmas day Parkrun at MK. There were 300 others dressed in christmassy garb and trying to run around the course.

Unfortunately due to flooding we were turned around at the 3k  mark and so the 5k parkrun became nearly 6k !

It was nice to get up and out building up an appetite ready for my Christmas lunch.... and prezzies.

Bedford Parkrun - 21.12.13

Drizzly and chilly conditions greeted 4 FlitwickTri members to Bedford Parkrun on Saturday. Despite this Steve achieved a new PB which was frustratingly a few seconds short of breaking the 23 minute barrier.

MK Winter Half Marathon - 15.12.13

I took part in the inaugural Milton Keynes Winter Half Marathon on Sunday 15^th December. Run entirely off-road being one lap around the city centre and hence avoiding all of the steeper hills, the course was something between undulating and flat. Being on the paths and Redways it was a relatively scenic route though. Weather conditions were ideal for running.

My lack of distance training recently had an effect in the latter stages of the race and I was slightly disappointed with a time of 1hr 58min 40sec and was placed 370^th out of 624.

Aylesbury Parkrun - 14.12.13

On Saturday Pete ventured a little further afield to take part in the recently started Aylesbury Parkrun. He achieved a time of 25.47 which is a PB for Pete at the event and the 15th different Parkrun he has taken part in. Impressive stuff.

Bedford Parkrun - 14.12.13

This morning 3 of us were at Bedford Parkrun but 2, Les and Steve, were there as volunteers with Les' role being tail runner.

Conditions were dry and chilly but I paid the price for yesterday's office Christmas Party and missed out on my PB attempt. Oh well, may be next time.
