Milton Keynes Parkrun - 22.03.14
Last weekend Flitwick Tri member Steve Clough ventured over to Milton Keynes on Saturday morning to take part in the weekly Parkrun at Willen Lake. He was one of a huge 456 runners taking part in the run and it obviously inspired him as he achieved a new PB for Milton Keynes of 23.10.
Well done Steve.

Bedford Parkrun - 22.03.14
This morning we had 8 FlitwickTri runners taking part in the Bedford Parkrun with Pete Jones also acting as a volunteer. There were 255 runners in all so it was a very well supported run.
Before the run there were a few special moments as Pete was presented with his T-shirt and jacket for achieving 100 parkruns. Les was then introduced as today's run was his 100th. It was also good to see Liam back after a long injury layoff.
There were 2 PBs this morning for Emily and Ellen who are two of our younger members and who are both now running the 5K in under 30 minutes.
The times were:
Jack Wilkinson 22.50
Liam Ko 22.58
Les Potts 29.33
Emily Potts 29.40
Ellen Wright 29.42
Chris Wright 29.42
Sarah Eke 34.20
Sian Jones 37.08
Well done everyone.

Bedford Parkrun - 15.03.14
This week it was clear that spring had arrived at Bedford Parkrun although there was a headwind across the bottom of he park which hindered progress, especially the third time runners passed the band stand.
The wind didn't cause too many problems for Emily and Jack however and both came away with new PBs.
Four of us were in action on Saturday and the times were:
Chris Wright 22.13
Jack Wilkinson 22.28
Emily Potts 29.53
Les Potts 29.53
Well done all.

MK Half Marathon - 09.03.14
Along with two pals I took part in the above event for the second consecutive year.
Last year snow was in the air with temperatures hovering just above zero. This year it was the complete opposite with a sunny, warm & windless day and the car showing 19 degrees at the end of the race.
The course is relatively flat for the first 18k, being run on closed roads and Redways however the last 3k is a pretty significant climb through Campbell Park .
Strangely 5,000 runners were expected but results for only 2,487 were posted stopping at 3:30:00.
I struggled from the 11/12k point and even had to walk parts of Campbell Park . Consequently my time was a disappointing 2:05:36 some 3 minutes slower than last year and 7 minutes slower than last week’s Reading Half. I finished in 1469th place.

Bedford Parkrun - 08.03.14.

Stephen Clough 23:00 PB
Pete Jones 23:29 PB
Jack Wilkinson 25:23
Rob Hughes 25:26
Fiona Jones 27:23
Emily Potts 30:29 PB
Ellen Wright 30:52
Chris Wright 30:54
Sian Jones 36:51
Les Potts 50:30 (tail runner).

Reading Half Marathon - 02.03.2014
On Sunday Les Potts and myself took on the Reading half marathon. The conditions were great for running, cool with a little wind but the race was quite busy from start to finish.
It seemed a well organised event but the phased mass starts made for a slow start. This was probably good for me as it stopped me dashing off, but it was still a little frustrating.
We both got around without injury and enjoyed the sights! (though the last 3 miles was a long boring stretch on duel carriageways). There was only one hill to speak but as this was at 3 miles it was early enough not to be a problem.
Les achieved a time of 1hr 58m to finish the race in 7039th place and I managed a time of 2hr 7m to finish in 9235th place.
All 14,000+ participants finished the race in the Reading Madjeski stadium which was
a nice finale and it was great to be clapped over the line. Nice medal too, heavy enough to be a lethal weapon!
